Arnhem is now providing two compost bins.
Let’s join hands to make our living space greener and more sustainable!
This how it works:
Separate, in your kitchen, food waste from regular trash.
Take the food waste downstairs and deposit it into the new compost bins.
After a few months your food waste will have turned into high quality soil!
Here’s a guide on what is and is not compostable:
Although composting is simple and requires very little work to maintain, it is essential that only compostable material is placed into the compost bins. Under no circumstances may the compost bins be misused for other waste items.
The compost bins have been provided by the City of Cape Town free of charge. Depending on the uptake, we might increase the number of bins in future.
Please remember:
- Recyclable material (plastic, glass, metal, paper) is collected in our GREEN ROOM. A detailed recycling guide can be downloaded from the Arnhem website. The Trustees also provide leaflets with a basic recycling guideline.
- Black bins are only for non-recyclable and non-compostable waste.
